  3. Thank you very much for your imput Aunty Ade and cousin Sunmolu. I really like the history insight. It serves as education for the younger generation and a reminder for the older generation.
I really would like to see more participation from everybody so that we can invite the next generation to join the blog.
There is so much we can learn from each other.

  5. Dad, when he was alive, used the Unicorn to symbolize the Sasegbon family.

Iho Sooto sounds like a torture chamber. With snails in the chamber, the slaves would have had a horrible time.

  6. i do not think a reminder of slavery would e beneficial to the family history. it is one aspect we need to de-emphasize.we should not expose skeletons.sunmolu

  8. I agree with you 100% cousin Sumolu. Nobody wants to be reminded of the horrible things that man has perpetrated on his fellow man.

I was in Ghana a couple of weeks ago and had the rare opportunity to visit one of the renowned slave castles. I guess that memory was still fresh in my mind.

I hope all is well with you and the family.

  10. Hi every one.
The momentum seems to have slowed down a little on the family Logo topic.
Dele can you possibly get a picture of the family symbol (the Unicorn) so that we can use that.If there are no objections?
I guess once we have the picture we can then propose the use of it, and if seconded it would carry.
Kindly post your comments on this.
    Thanks.

  15. Hey everyone,

This is Mrs Laide Sasegbon here, just a few points. The unicorn is quite an appropriate logo for the blog, because it is a symbol of strength and fortrightness, which the forefathers had in abundance. It is our duty to pass this strength and fortrightness to the oncoming generation. I will endeavour to make about 10 plaques with the Sasegbon coat of arms, when I get to Lagos, God willing. A member of each arm of the family can come and collect their copy. The family crest (the unicorn shield) can be found in the Sasegbon library which is in lagos at this address.

    No 46 Akinsoji street,
    Fadeyi – Igbobi Lagos.

    Best Wishes,

Mrs Sasegbon and her grandson (typist)
